Richmond by Night

A month or so I had participated with my local club a walk at night to do some long exposure to capture our city. Richmond is a great city and has a lot of opportunities to take picures. This is the first time I really went downtown after dark to take photographs.

I used my Canon 60D with the 17-55mm f2.8 lens

The Main Street Station is a great piece of architecture and sites at the bottom of the city. The station was built in 1901 and still has trains pass through it all the time including Amtrack where you can get a ride. The road up to the left is Interstate 95 that was built pretty close to the station.

People also call it the clock tower but there is the main entrance to the station which is pretty nice inside. You can have your event inside and it is used quite a bit.

Standing on the James Monroe Building we had a great angle of Interstate 95 and Main Street Station. The James Monroe building is the tallest building in the city and built in 1981. Stayed the tallest building in the state till 2007.

We then checked out the state capitol which holds the oldest  legislative body in the western hemisphere when Virgina General Assembly was established in 1619, pretty interesting. It was completed in 1788 and is currently 227 years old.

There was no one around except a few guards walking the grounds that night. Was a great night, little overcast.

The fountains were nice to see and looked great when you long exposed them.
