Dinosaur Land

Dinosaur Land has been standing since the 1960s in White Top Virginia and still has some of the original dino’s and newer editions. It is a quirky stop on our route back from Harper’s Ferry WV. It is a little place where they have a good number of scale replica’s of dino’s from back in the day. Some large T-Rex and smaller other dino’s as well. There is also a 20 foot or longer King Kobra! This guy below looks like the Spinosaurs from Jurassic Park 3 but the size of a Rapture. There is also a King Kong there that you can go and sit or stand in his hand that is out stretched for a photo op as well. If you are near Winchester, this isn’t a bad stop, especially if you have kids and they are all about Jurassic World/Park.

Old Building at Harpers Ferry

Harper’s Ferry West Virginia is really a neat place to check out. It is where three states join at the intersection of the Potomac and Shenandoah River. West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland. The old part of the town is part of the National Park system and has two active train lines running through. It also is the headquarters and the unofficial half way point of the Appalachian Trail. I took my girlfriend here on a whim after Gettysburg since I had not been in a long time and she never had. It was a gorgeous day to go too. In this old building that was part of an exhibit I noticed that the wall to the left in the photo that the outline with the brick showing through sort of looked like the United States.

Reds at Maymont

Maymont park is really a great place a lot of people go to in the city. When the weather opens up on the weekend recently there has been some large crowds. During the summer some concerts take place there as there is a large open grassy area. The Japanese gardens located down the hill near the canal and river is really nice. The Japanese Maples have some nice red leaves in the sea of green that is bamboo and other trees there. Definitely worth a stop.

Norfolk Southern Passing by

I was down at the Great Shiplock Park in Richmond the other day with the girlfriend enjoying some nice weather before a hard downpour. The rail that cuts through the side of the park and cross the road is active and this train was passing by. The bridge right behind it is also an active line that has Amtrak and freight trains come through on either coming in at the Main Street Station or heading on up the river. The canal there and the lock at the end is pretty cool to see. Lots of people were stopping by to go fishing on the James.

Cloudy New York

I’m going through some of the photographs that I took on my trip to New York City and I noticed that since it was my first time there I wasn’t taking a lot of good photos but just typical tourist pictures with my sister. I did take a few where I took my time but we were on the move trying to get a visit of the city in 1.5 days. I feel like I did a pretty good job but I missed out on museums and other activities. I still want to see a lot of architecture as there are some amazing tall and older buildings in the city. The skyline is great and just shows that there is a lot more to look forward to when I can get back there to visit.
