Sol Doc Falls

Sol Doc Falls is in the Olympic National Park in Washington State. It has some nice scenery and these falls was gorgeous. There was a lot of shade and the sun light poured in right on the flowing water. The mist coming up was fogging up the filter ever so often but it was peaceful in away. The hike was nice but the mosquitoes and gnats will fly around your head about half the time.

Cannon Beach

Cannon Beach was something a lot of people probably picture when you mention Oregon Coast. It was wonderful but there were a lot of people in the area and I actually miss seeing the Washington coast and how wild that was. I guess we walked down the beach at low tied. What you can’t see is the houses and houses along the beach to my back, unlike a lot of northern Washington coast that are cliffs and some parts are part of Olympic National Park. This surfer was walking out of the water after a long ride.

Mt. Saint Helen’s wrath

When Mt. Saint Helens erupted there was quite a bit of destruction. The area near the volcano still shows what happened when it went but the further you get away you can see what it probably was once. The trees in the area were large and you can see the remaining stumps here in the photo. There is pumice stone all over with small vegetation growing in. To the left of this photograph is a large lake with massive trees floating, probably for years. The volcano is to my back right now.

Rain forest of Olympic

The rain forest in Olympic National Park was really awesome. There was no rain and the sun was out but the ferns and moss were still dense in this part of the park. The trail “Hall of Mosses” was an easy walk and had lots of great vegetation but of course pretty busy and a lot of people. I took this looking up at the mosses draping over the maples.

Close to the Sun

Here is another photograph that was taken at the brewery. The field was really nice to see and it was a long field but not very wide. It was a pain to cut across it since there was a lot of stinging nettles in the field, plus some of the flowers were 5 feet tall and right in your face in some spots. The storm clouds were rolling in closure and started to pour five minutes before this shot.
