Seattle was a great place to visit and far from Richmond. Walking along Alki beach, you get a great view of downtown across the water.

Cannon Beach was something a lot of people probably picture when you mention Oregon Coast. It was wonderful but there were a lot of people in the area and I actually miss seeing the Washington coast and how wild that was. I guess we walked down the beach at low tied. What you can’t see is the houses and houses along the beach to my back, unlike a lot of northern Washington coast that are cliffs and some parts are part of Olympic National Park. This surfer was walking out of the water after a long ride.

When Mt. Saint Helens erupted there was quite a bit of destruction. The area near the volcano still shows what happened when it went but the further you get away you can see what it probably was once. The trees in the area were large and you can see the remaining stumps here in the photo. There is pumice stone all over with small vegetation growing in. To the left of this photograph is a large lake with massive trees floating, probably for years. The volcano is to my back right now.

It is hiking time. Hiking is really something that I enjoy and of course capturing photos. Black Rock is a short hike within Shenandoah National Park. It was something to relax on, easy walk, short and a place to sit and have a 300 degree view.

So I had a Kia Optima 2017 that was my rental for our Washington Oregon trip. It was a nice ride that I put 2,500 miles on in two weeks. It was an upgrade from the car I drive at home. The rental over there was a lot more expensive then getting one here in Richmond. I took this shot on the road side in the John Day Fossil beds which is really a great place to check out in central Oregon. There was hardly anyone out there which was nice and quiet.
