I pulled over on the side of the road when I was heading to Mt. Saint Helens. The sky and the sight was surreal as I got nothing quite like it back at home.

I arrived at 4 am by flight in Seattle and was able to stay up for the sunrise at Kerry Park. The sky was clear and seeing Mt. Rainier for the first time like this was pretty breathtaking. There were two other fellow photographers up there with me; a local and some one who had a 10 hr flight that night.

Walking around at some of the sites at the John Day fossil beds we came across this old truck sitting and rusting. I loved the landscape out there as it is different then anything by the mountains.

Snoqualmie Falls is a popular tourist attraction, that’s for sure. Plenty of people were out there just to drop their eyes on it. Noticeable from the show Twin Peaks, it was only about 30 minutes from Seattle and there were a few stands along the road to with Rainier cherries. I regret not stopping and grabbing some.
