Carrytown walk in the City

I run a street photography group where we go out every once in awhile we go somewhere to shoot what we see. Carytown is a part of Richmond where there is shops and restaurants. Friday night it can get lively and that is when we went an hour before the sun set. Was a great time and I had a film and digital camera with me. I took a lot but some didn’t come out as it was also a time out with the girl. I had black and white film and so I shot in black in white with my digital to stay consistent.

Next four pictures were shot on a Konica Hexar with Fuji Acros 100 at 30mm.

Summer night on the Kamo River

So the weather that we had on our trip was really great. It rained once and that was when we were in Tokyo. Kamo River that cuts through Kyoto is a great sight on a nice night. Along Pontocho which has a lot of restaurants that are really nice and be quite expensive have there backs up to the Kamo river. they build these decks out of the river a little ways and adds a great atmosphere. We cooked our food in a large oil boil (veggies and meat) on one of these decks. It was splendid.

Sunset at Higashiyama

Walking one evening while we were in Kyoto we manage to see a wonderful sunset which I didn’t get but the pink across the sky was visible for a good while. Walking in the Higashiyama hill area is a delight at this time in the early summer. There were no more crowds but the small stores were closing up. The old streets take you back and the setting sun cast shadows and lanterns turn on. Truly a great time for a walk.

Stay at Mount Koya

My girl friend and I stayed at a temple lodging on Mount Koya that is just south of Osaka. The experience there was quite amazing and peaceful compared to the cities that we have been too. We stayed at Fukuchin Temple where we were served breakfast and dinner which was vegetarian of course. Not all my cup of tea but Ms. Chef traveling with me sure did enjoy it. We took a stroll through the town which after 5-6pm was pretty deserted. All the stores were closed up and there was only one convenience store opened. We walked back and saw that the other temples started to close there gates just like this one.

Premium Boss

So back in May, my girlfriend an I traveled to Japan for two weeks. It was my third trip and it was her first. The time spent there was great and it was nice traveling with someone the entire time as my first two times I went alone. It was a change of pace for sure and I tried more drinks and food then previous times. My girlfriend is a chef so she was very interested in the culinary of Japan. I am all about vending machines and drinks, love them. I tried as much as I could. I am a big fan of Boss coffee and there were many different kinds that I tried on this trip. I can get my hands on Black Boss Coffee back here in my city but any others is a no go. I tried at least 12 other flavors and all were slightly different. I tried all that you see here. Look forward to more photographs from my trip both digital and film as I traveled with a film camera.
